I am a fan of the YouTube playlist called ‘Une Fille, Un Style’ by Vogue France. If I had to define the word ‘inspiration’ in the world of European mainstream-in-a-good-way fashun enthusiasts, these videos would illustrate it perfectly. I just want to stand up, crack my fingers and DO something beautiful, or just get dressed a bit fancier ha-ha.
In these videostories you get a peak at nicely, sometimes overdone, and rarely chaotically curated Parisian (with occasional retreats to Copenhagen, London and France at large) homes, wardrobes, art, books and vintage collections, and – oh yeah! – jewellery boxes of the girls of the moment or rather ‘filles en vue et stylées’.

Wearing jewellery like this:
Jumping right into the all that glitters, the first rule de la parisienne you need to know says: WEAR GOLD.
Now let's get to the nitty gritty.
The Chain
It’s either a coin style or any round pendant on a thin chain for an effortlessly youngish look:
or two:
A slightly chunkier golden chain, like ‘I’m owning it, baby’:
or a longer statement version, often with a pearl:
The Bracelet(s) (read: bangles)
The Rings, always in plural.
Signets, domes, exaggerated pearls, maharaja style, sculptural, or romantic – just put them all on.
The Earrings
Minimal or medium sized hoops:
Organic forms and ‘calamari rings’:
Vintage clip-ons:
On the romantic and blingier side:
Full-on razzle-dazzle:
The wrist watch
The altar (my favourite part)
How you store your trinkets matters.
Bottom line: the French girl’s jewellery is like hi-end neutral basics in your wardrobe that go well with anything and together as well. You can mix and match, you can put it all on at once, or just marvel at them laid beautifully in your private space. Looks like a perfect scenario for a busy gal trotting rues de Paris.
Here’s the playlist for your enjoyment!
